CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati assistant volleyball coach Phillip White has been named to the coaching staff of the United States Collegiate National Volleyball Team that will tour China this summer. White will join UC Player and American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, Jordan Thompson, after she was selected as one of 12 players on the team in March.
White, who is in his third season with the UC volleyball team, helped guide the Bearcats to a third place finish in The American and a 21-10 overall record while mentoring a pair of All-Conference selections in Thompson and Carly Nolan. He has a history of coaching athletes at the highest level, including collegiate coaching experience at Schreiner University where he served as the head coach from 2008-2011, as well as at the University of Southern California and with USA Volleyball.
White will be an assistant coach for the USA Collegiate National Team and will be joined by head coach Keegan Cook (University of Washington), assistant coach Alex Dunphy (Pepperdine University) and technical coordinator Jon Wong (University of Tennessee). White, Thompson and the Collegiate National Team will spend a short training period in Los Angeles June 18-19 before leaving for China. They will compete in a series of matches in Shanghai (June 21-23), Nanjing (June 23-26) and Beijing (June 26-July 1) and will be traveling in conjunction with the Pac-12 Conference All-Star Team.
