Final Stats

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team earned its first home win of the season Wednesday night when it defeated the Cleveland State Vikings, 2-0, inside Gettler Stadium.

After an evenly played first period, the Bearcats (2-3-0) went on the attack in the second. Pushing the pace against the Vikings (3-3-0), UC registered eight more shot attempts in the second period as well as attempted two more corner kicks. Energized by factors such as the substitution of freshman speedster Daniel Oginni (Mississauga, Ontario/King's Christian Collegiate) - who added his first career goal for the Bearcats' first score - UC controlled the half. CSU was limited to only two shots on goal while the Bearcats got an additional goal for good measure late off of a header from freshman Elliott Williams (London, England) via a corner kick to seal the victory.

// GOAL SCORING SUMMARY

57' - CIN Daniel Oginni
The quick freshman was opportunistic early in the second period when he went one-on-one in the backfield with the goalkeeper off of a giveaway and put one past for the first goal of his career and UC's first of the night.

80' - CIN Elliott Williams (Adam Wilson)
Off of a sophomore Adam Wilson (Auchterarder, Scotland/Dollar Academy) corner kick from the far right corner, the tall rookie fought for position in the box, challenged for the ball and put a header into the lower right corner of the net to give the Bearcats an insurance goal late.
