Volleyball Sweeps Furman in Non-Conference Finale

CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team closed its regular season schedule on Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 (25-15, 27-25, 25-18) victory over Furman University in Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats used a dominant offensive attack, led by sophomore Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) who dished out 41 assists to set up the Bearcats scoring.

Cincinnati hit a season-high .370 in the match while holding the Paladins to just a .079 clip. Senior Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and sophomores Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) and Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake) each tallied double-digit kills and hit above .300 in the match.

// NOTABLES
- Cincinnati improves to 5-6 on the year while Furman goes to 3-7.
- Thompson led all players with 19 kills and 10 digs and added a career-high six blocks to the UC effort, marking her third double-double of the season. She has tallied double-digit kills in all but two matches this year.
- Redshirt senior Alison Kimmel (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) was dominant at the net for the Bearcats, recording a career-high 10 blocks, including a solo block to win the match.
- Tingelhoff was one dig shy of a double-double, finishing with 41 assists, nine digs and a block.
- Nolan added eight digs, three blocks and a service ace to her 13 kills and .310 hitting percentage.
- Hill's .480 hitting percentage in the match is a season high for any UC player with at least 10 kills. The senior finished with a season-high 14 kills against Furman.
- Five different players recorded at least seven digs in a match for the first time this season. Thompson led the way with 10 while Tingelhoff had nine, Nolan and senior Lindsey Dinkelacker (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Louis) each had eight and sophomore Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) had seven.
- Cincinnati topped Furman in almost every statistical category, including kills (48-33), hitting percentage (.370-.079), assists (44-29), digs (47-35) and blocks (12.0-5.0).
- The Bearcats stopped a four-game losing skid after playing a team either ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll in four of their last six matches.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25, FU 15
- Back-to-back blocks by Kimmel/Thompson and Kimmel/Nolan opened the match and the Bearcats raced to a 9-2 lead to force a Furman timeout.
- A seven-point UC scoring run that included two kills each by Nolan and Thompson gave the home team a 20-8 lead.
- A kill by Hill gave UC set point at 24-14 and another point by the senior won the first game 25-15 for the Bearcats.
Set 2: UC 27, FU 25
- The Bearcats opened a 12-7 lead following three consecutive attacking errors by the Paladins but Furman came right back to tie the score at 14-14.
- Back-to-back kills by Nolan and Thompson broke a 20-20 tie and forced a Furman timeout with a 22-20 UC lead.
- The Paladins scored three out of the timeout to take a 23-22 lead and push the Bearcats into a timeout of their own.
- A Thompson kill tied it at 23-23 and the teams traded points until back-to-back kills by Thompson and Hill gave the Bearcats a 27-25 win in the game and a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Tingelhoff collected 15 assists in the game en route to 17 kills for Cincinnati.
Set 3: UC 25, FU 18
- The Bearcats jumped out to an early 11-6 lead and rode the momentum into a 22-13 lead.
- The Paladins attempted a comeback, scoring five of the next six points, but the Bearcats put the match to bed with a kill by Thompson and a solo block by Kimmel.
- The trio of Thompson, Nolan and Hill each recorded five kills in the set for the Bearcats.

Cincinnati opens play in the American Athletic Conference with a road match at Tulsa on Thursday, Sept. 22, at 8 p.m. ET. The team will continues its road trip to SMU on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 2 p.m.
