University of Cincinnati senior Jared O'Kelley (Canton, Ga./Creekview High School) posted a 4-over 76 on Tuesday to tie for 11th place at 3-over 75-68-76=219 during final-round action at the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at the Grove in College Grove, Tennessee.
O'Kelley rebounded from a slow start, to shoot even par on the back nine, thanks in part to a pair of birdies on the final three holes. He tied Louisville's Keegan de Lange (76-73-70=219) for 11th place. It marked O'Kelley's 11th top-20 finish of his career.
Sophomore Paul Huber (Edgewood, Ky./Covington Catholic) completed his best collegiate finish, tying eight other players for 13th place at 4-over 70-74-76=220. Sophomore Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) and senior Blake Hamilton (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) tied four other players for 35th place. Hamilton finished Tuesday at 2-over 74 to end at 72-78-74=224 while Squires complete the final round with a 3-over 75 to finish at 71-78-75=224.
UC (20-over 288-295-301=884) tied Louisville (20-over 301-291-292=884) for seventh place in the team standings. The Bearcats recovered from a 14-over par team score on the front nine with a 1-over combined effort on the back nine.
Ole Miss claimed the team trophy, finishing at 4-over 292-286-290=868. The 14-team field featured nine teams that took part in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Georgia, ranked No. 9 in the preseason Golf Coaches Association of America poll, finished one stroke ahead of the Bearcats, tying for fifth place at 19-over 295-293-295=883.
"We had two stretches of holes this week that we'd really like to have back," UC head coach Doug Martin. "Other than shooting 4-over on holes 16 through 18 on Monday and 11-over on holes 4 through 6 today, we had a great tournament.
"O'Kelley and Huber both performed well today on the back nine," Martin said. "Hamilton was 2-over and did a good job of battling some very difficult conditions."
