Tingelhoff Career Highs Lead Bearcats to Win at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla.
- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team put on an impressive all-around performance in a 3-2 (25-22, 19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 15-13) win at Tulsa on Thursday night. A trio of sophomores contributed double-doubles to the Cincinnati effort, led by Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) who tied a career high with 51 assists and set a new career high with 19 digs. The setter also added a pair of kills while setting her team up for a .236 attacking percentage in the match.

Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) tied a career-high with 27 kills and set a new career high with 13 digs en route to her fourth double-double of the season. Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) also got in on the double-double action with 11 kills and 11 digs for her third of the season.

Cincinnati had to battle through a wild back-and-fourth fifth set before coming away with the win. A kill by Thompson set up match point for the Bearcats at 14-13 and the officials conferred on the final play before awarding a kill to senior Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) to end the game at 15-13 and the Bearcats the victory.

// NOTABLES
- Cincinnati improves to 6-6 on the year and 1-0 in The American while Tulsa falls to 11-2 and 0-1 in the league. With the win, Cincinnati snapped a nine-match winning streak for the Golden Hurricane.
- Thompson's 27 kills led all players, as did her .322 hitting percentage (for players with at least five kills). She has tallied double-digit kills in all but two matches this year.
- Hill contributed a season-high 18 kills for Cincinnati.
- Freshman Sabrina Wolf (Cincinnati, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame) recorded her first-career service ace in the match and finished with four for the Bearcats.
- Senior Lise Alaiwan (Villeneuve Loubet, France/Kedge Business School) led the Bearcats at the net with five blocks.
- Five Bearcats collected double-digit dig totals, led by Tingelhoff (19) and Thompson (13). Additionally, Nolan and senior Lindsey Dinkelacker (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Louis) chipped in 11 while sophomore Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) had 10.
- It was the second five-set match of the season for the Bearcats who are now 1-1 in those matches.
- It was the fourth-straight five-set match between Cincinnati and Tulsa, dating back to the 2014 season. The Bearcats are 3-1 in those matches and 4-2 overall against the Golden Hurricane.
- The Bearcats did not allow a service ace to their opponent for the second time this season (Miami, Sept. 14).
- Cincinnati set season high marks in kills (62), total attempts (165), assists (60) and digs (69).

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25, TU 22
- A kill by Nolan tied the first game at 10-10 but a kill and a solo block by Tulsa's Erica Bohannon gave the Golden Hurricane a 12-10 lead and forced the Bearcats into a timeout.
- UC scored four straight points with kills by Hill, Nolan and Thompson and a block by Nolan/Alaiwan to go ahead 17-16. One point later, UC scored on a long rally between the teams for an 18-17 advantage and a Tulsa timeout.
- Thompson scored her seventh kill of the game before Wolf collected her first-career service ace for the 25-22 victory and a 1-0 lead in the match.
Set 2: TU 25, UC 19
- A kill by Hill gave UC a 13-11 lead before an error by Tulsa made it 14-11 and forced a TU timeout.
- The Golden Hurricane responded out of the break with five straight points for a 16-14 lead.
- TU held the lead through 22-18 when the Bearcats called their second timeout of the game following back-to-back UC errors.
- Cincinnati fought off one Tulsa set point but a kill by Rachel Moore finished the game with a 25-19 Golden Hurricane win to tie the match at 1-1.
Set 3: UC 25, TU 15
- The Bearcats scored three straight points, including a kill by Nolan and two TU errors, for an 8-4 lead and a Tulsa timeout.
- The Bearcats rattled off four consecutive points, with the help of three Tulsa attacking errors, for a 15-6 advantage and another TU timeout.
- The lead ballooned to 18-9 after a three-point Cincinnati scoring run that included Wolf's second ace and a block from Thompson and junior Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield). From there, UC rolled to a 25-15 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Set 4: TU 25, UC 23
- The teams traded points to open the set until a three-point UC scoring run, including Wolf's third service ace of the match, gave the Bearcats a 13-11 lead.
- Tulsa came back to take a 17-15 lead after a block and a kill, forcing a Cincinnati timeout.
- The Golden Hurricane lead grew to 21-18 after back-to-back TU kills but the Bearcats came storming back with another Wolf ace and back-to-back attacking errors by Bohannon to get within 22-21.
- A Thompson kill pulled UC within 24-23 but a Tulsa kill on the next play gave the Golden Hurricane the fourth game at 25-23.
Set 5: UC 15, TU 13
- TU scored three straight points for a 3-2 lead but the Bearcats answered with a kill by Nolan to tie the score at 3-3.
- The teams traded points until consecutive kills by Nolan and Hill gave Cincinnati a 7-6 lead.
- Tulsa went ahead 10-9 but the Bearcats weren't phased, scoring on a kill by Thompson, a block by Nolan/Muldrow and a kill by Nolan for an 11-9 advantage.
- With the teams again deadlocked at 13-13, Thompson gave UC its first match point before Hill ended it with a kill and a 15-13 UC win.
