EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team added two more title wins on the final day of the Evansville Metro Collegiate invite Sunday at Wesselman Park.
The two-day event featured both singles and doubles action over the course of two days. Hosted by Evansville and Southern Indiana, the event features nine total teams, with six Division I teams and three Division II teams.
After winning two doubles titles on the first day, the Bearcats carried the momentum to the second day, winning two singles titles on Sunday.
After picking up her first win on Saturday, Caronline Morton (Dubuque, Iowa/Evert Tennis Academy) rolled off two more in the No. 3 singles flight to earn title honors. The freshman added a semifinal win over Linke of North Alabama by scores of 6-3, 6-2 before winning the championship match 6-1, 7-5 over Shatalova of Western Kentucky.
Anna Philp (Burlington, Ontario/Burlington Central) was the second freshman to earn a title Sunday, taking honors in the No. 5 flight. Philp was leading Pereira of Evanville 6-2, 2-1 before she retired. In the championship match, the freshman battled to a three-set victory. Philp won the opening set 6-3 before DeUgarte of Evansville came back to win the second set 6-3. Philp then won a closely contested third set tiebreaker by a 13-11 score.

"Overall this was a very good weekend for our girls. Taking home two doubles and singles titles always makes the ride home better," noted head coach Eric Toth. "I really feel our girls are improving rapidly, which is the whole aim of a fall season."
