STORRS, Conn. - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team was defeated, 5-0, by the No. 18 UConn Huskies on Saturday night at Joseph J. Morrone Stadium in Storrs, Connecticut.
The Bearcats' drop to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1-0 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Huskies improve to 9-3-0 and an undefeated 3-0 in league action. Saturday snapped a six-match unbeaten streak for UC, while UConn won its sixth-consecutive match.
Playing in wet conditions in Storrs, UC was able to thwart many Husky advances in the opening 20 minutes of the match. A UConn goal in the 25th minute put UC behind and another Husky score shortly thereafter put the Bearcats in a bind very quickly. An early second half UConn goal dug UC's hole even deeper and it couldn't recover. The Bearcats offense was stymied most of the match with their first shot on goal coming late in the second period.

// COMMENTS FROM COACH DAYES
"Tonight we lost to a very good UConn team," said head coach Hylton Dayes. "They controlled the tempo of the game from the first whistle and we just could not generate any chances. I don't think UConn saw our best tonight but we will regroup and get ready for our midweek game vs IUPUI."
