CINCINNATI
– The University of Cincinnati volleyball team took care of business on Sunday afternoon, beating Memphis 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-13) in an American Athletic conference match at Fifth Third Arena. Sophomore Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) paced the team with a match-high 17 digs while classmate Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) completed her fourth double-double of the year with 31 assists and 10 digs.

The team celebrated its annual Think Pink match and wore special pink jerseys to raise awareness for the UC Cancer Institute's Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center.

// NOTABLES
- Cincinnati improves to 10-7 on the year and 5-1 in The American while Memphis falls to 8-10 and 0-6 in the league.
- The Bearcats improve to 28-21 all-time against Memphis and snap a six-match win streak for the Tigers in the series.
- Sophomore Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) finished with a match high 16 kills and has recorded double-digit kills in 11 matches this season.
- Collectively, the team hit at a .288 attacking percentage and is 7-0 on the season when hitting .250 or better.
- The Bearcats held the Tigers to a .065 hitting percentage and are 10-3 when keeping their opponents below .250.
- It is the first time UC has held its opponent below a .100 hitting percentage since Aug. 26, when it kept Louisiana-Monroe to .012.
- The Bearcats finished with 10.0 blocks, making the fourth match of the year they recorded double-digit blocks as a team.
- Redshirt senior Alison Kimmel (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) led the team with five blocks.
- Sophomore Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) recorded a career-high three service aces, all coming in the first game.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25, UM 19
- Consecutive kills by Thompson and Nolan as well as a block by Thompson and Kimmel put the Bearcats ahead 3-0, but the Tigers worked to tie the score at 6-6.
- Cincinnati held a 15-11 lead before three straight Memphis points got the visitors within 15-14 and forced a timeout by head coach Molly Alvey.
- UC immediately responded with a block by senior Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and junior Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) and back-to-back service aces by Thompson for an 18-15 advantage and a Memphis timeout.
- Thompson's third ace of the game made it 23-17 in favor of the home team and the Bearcats closed it out on a Memphis serving error for the 25-19 win.
Set 2: UC 25, UM 18
- A six-point UC scoring run which included kills by Kimmel and Thompson and back-to-back blocks by the same duo, put the Bearcats ahead 17-9.
- Consecutive aces by the Tigers made it 20-16, forcing a Bearcats timeout, and Memphis continued its run with a Cincinnati attack error to get within 20-17.
- The Bearcats turned around the momentum, scoring five of the final six points in the game to win 25-18. Kills by Muldrow and Nolan paced UC in the run.
Set 3: UC 25, UM 13
- The Bearcats broke open a close game with four straight points, including two blocks, for a 12-7 advantage and a Memphis timeout.
- UC scored in pairs twice to increase the lead to 20-12 and scored the final five points, including three kills from Nolan, to win the game 25-13 and take the match 3-0.

Cincinnati goes on the road for a pair of American matches at Houston and Tulane on Oct. 13 and 15. The Bearcats will face the Cougars at 8 p.m. ET on Friday before traveling to New Orleans for a match against the Green Wave at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.
