CINCINNATI
– The University of Cincinnati volleyball team toppled UCF 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19) on Sunday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena for its third American Athletic Conference victory. The Bearcats handed the Knights their first loss in conference play to move up the league standings.

For the second consecutive match, the sophomore duo of Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) and Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) dominated the match, finishing with 22 and 21 kills, respectively. Nolan added 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season while both chipped in three blocks to the Cincinnati effort.

- Cincinnati improves to 8-7 on the year and 3-1 in The American while UCF falls to 13-4 and 3-1 in the league.
- The Bearcats improve to 4-5 all-time against the Knights and have won the last three matches in the series.
- Thompson has hit double-digit kills in 13 matches this season while Nolan has registered the feat on 10 occasions.
- Sophomore setter Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) had 55 assists in the four-set match while adding nine digs and three blocks.
- Senior Lindsey Dinkelacker (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Louis) led the team with 14 digs while sophomore Abby Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) collected 13 for the Bearcats.
- Junior Maya Muldrow (Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield) had a match-high six blocks.
- Thompson (.304), Nolan (.395) and senior Ciara Hill (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) (.367) each hit above the .300 clip and the Bearcats improve to 5-0 when at least three players hit that mark.
- Collectively, the team hit at a .288 attacking percentage and is 5-0 on the season when hitting .250 or better.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25, UCF 20
- UCF broke a 5-5 tie with a pair of kills and a Cincinnati attacking error for an 8-5 lead and a Bearcats timeout. Out of the break, UC stormed back with four straight points, including a solo block by Muldrow to go ahead 9-8.
- A kill by Thompson and a block by Muldrow/Nolan tied the score at 18-18 and forced a UCF timeout.
- The Bearcats used another block, this time by Nolan and redshirt senior Alison Kimmel (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield) for a 21-20 advantage and another UCF timeout.
- The Bearcats continued its scoring run with the next four points out of the timeout to win the first game 25-20. UC used kills from Nolan and Thompson and a block from Kimmel/Thompson in the run.
Set 2: UC 25, UCF 21
- With the Knights ahead 9-7, the Bearcats employed a four-point scoring run to go ahead 11-9 and force a UCF timeout. UC used kills by Nolan and Hill and a pair of UCF errors in the run.
- The Knights answered with a three point run that included two kills and a UC error to tie the score at 15-15 and force head coach Molly Alvey into a timeout.
- Two straight kills by Thompson made it 18-16 in favor of the Bearcats and a service ace by Tingelhoff increased the lead to 19-16.
- The Knights climbed back to within 21-20 but the Bearcats scored five of the last six points and ended the game on a block by Muldrow and Tingelhoff.
Set 3: UCF 25, UC 21
- Cincinnati scored seven of eight points to take a 12-8 lead over the Knights. UC used two kills by Thompson and single kills by both Kimmel and Nolan during the run.
- The Knights wouldn't go quietly, scoring four straight to take a 14-13 lead and another two points for a 21-18 advantage.
- UCF got to set point at 24-20 and won the game 25-21 after a kill by Kia Bright.
Set 4: UC 25, UCF 19
- The Bearcats found themselves down 6-4 before starting a six-point scoring run that included kills by Nolan and Hill and a pair of blocks by senior Lise Alaiwan (Villeneuve Loubet, France/Kedge Business School) for a 9-6 lead and a UCF timeout.
- Two Nolan kills sandwiched a USF error to put the Bearcats ahead 12-8 and the lead grew to 19-14 before the Knights took another timeout.
- UCF would get no close than five points the remainder of the game and an emphatic kill by Thompson closed out the match for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats will travel to Greenville, North Carolina, for a mid-week matchup at East Carolina on Wednesday, Oct. 5. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
