Final Stats

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team dropped Eastern Illinois, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Gettler Stadium in its final home and nonconference match of the season.

With the win, the Bearcats improve to 9-6-1 on the season, while the Panthers fall to 5-10-1. The match was a makeup for the Oct. 19 meeting that was postponed due to weather.

Looking to bounce back from a controversial home loss to American Athletic Conference foe Tulsa, the match started out much like Saturday's. On the attack early, the Bearcats were able to draw a foul in the box in the 11th minute which led to sophomore Adam Wilson (Auchterarder, Scotland/Dollar Academy), again, converting on a penalty kick. UC added on late in the first half when freshman Daniel Oginni (Mississauga, Ontario/King's Christian Collegiate) used his blazing speed to give the Bearcats a 2-0 advantage in the 34th minute. UC's stellar defense kept EIU without a shot on goal in the first half.

With a new-look starting 10 to begin the second half, the Bearcats continued to be the aggressors. UC was able to cash in in the 68th minute when senior Jonny Williams (Loveland, Ohio/Loveland/IUPUI) scored his first goal of the season. The Panthers got off the schneid with a score in 75th minute in a match that the Bearcats controlled from beginning to end.
