Bearcats Earn Fourth Straight Sweep Over East Carolina

CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-19) victory over East Carolina on Wednesday afternoon in Fifth Third Arena, it's fourth consecutive sweep of the season. Sophomore Jade Tingelhoff (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville South) led the way for the Bearcats, dishing out 32 assists while also recording a match-high 17 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.

// NOTABLES
- Cincinnati improves to 21-9 on the year and 16-3 in the American Athletic Conference while East Carolina falls to 15-14 and 5-14 in the league.
- Cincinnati leads the overall series with the Pirates 11-1 after picking up two wins over ECU this season.
- Sophomore Carly Nolan (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South) led the offense with 11 kills and has reached double-digit kills in 22 matches this season. The outside hitter also added a career-high seven blocks, five digs and one assist.
- Sophomore Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) finished the match with nine kills and tied a career high with six blocks.
- Redshirt senior Alison Kimmel (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) had a match-high eight blocks and tied a career high with three service aces, all coming in a crucial stretch of 10-straight points to close out the first set.
- Thompson ended the match with 984 career kills and needs just 16 more to become the 18th player in Cincinnati volleyball history with 1,000 kills in her career. If she accomplishes the feat in the final regular-season match of the year at Memphis on Nov. 25, she will be the quickest play to 1,000 kills in school and American Athletic Conference history and the only player to do so in her sophomore season.
- The Bearcats held East Carolina to a .049 attacking percentage and are 21-3 on the year when their opponent hits below the .250 mark. It is the 16th time in the last 17 matches that they have kept their opponent under .250 and the third straight match where the other team hit below .100.
- Cincinnati topped the Pirates in kills (38-30), hitting percentage (.286-.049), assists (37-27), service aces (six to four) and blocks (12.5-5.0).
- With the sweep, Cincinnati won its 13th consecutive set.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC 25, ECU 13
- The Bearcats scored four consecutive points, including two kills by Thompson, to go ahead 5-2.
- The Pirates worked back to within 10-9 but a pair of blocks by Thompson and redshirt senior Alison Kimmel (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) gave the home team a 14-9 lead.
- Cincinnati closed out the set by scoring the final 10 points, led by three service aces from Kimmel, to win the opening game 25-13.
- The Bearcats held the Pirates to a -.125 attacking percentage in the game while recording a .320 clip themselves with just one error.
Set 2: UC 25, ECU 22
- East Carolina scored five straight points, with two blocks and two UC errors, for a 5-2 advantage.
- The teams traded points until an ECU error and a block by Kimmel and Nolan gave Cincinnati a 14-12 lead.
- The Pirates didn't back down, scoring four straight to retake the lead at 17-16 and force a Bearcats timeout.
- The Bearcats answered by scoring four of five points for a 22-20 lead and won the set 25-22 on a Nolan kill.
Set 3: UC 25, ECU 19
- The Bearcats were down 9-7 but scored three straight points, with kills by Nolan and Hill, for a 10-9 advantage.
- Thompson served a strong service game that included three kills from Nolan and a six-point UC run for a 19-13 lead.
- The Bearcats sustained the lead and won the match on Nolan's 12th kill of the day.
