ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped the final game of its season-opening, three-game road trip on Friday afternoon at Winthrop, 11-4. The Bearcats held the Eagles off the scoreboard for the first 15 minutes of the game, but a run by the hosts over the duration of the half put the contest out of reach.

Bell scored her eighth goal of the young season just past 10 minutes into the contest to stake the Bearcats to a 2-0 lead. Bell scored the first goal of the game just 1:23 into the game. UC held Winthrop off the scoreboard until there was 13:59 on the clock in the opening half.

12:16 1st - WIN Shannon Gallagher (free position)
Gallagher tied the contest at 2-2 with a free position goal just 1:43 after the Eagles scored the first goal of the game. That keyed a 7-0 run by Winthrop which extended into the second half. Allie Yeager scored at the 25:46 mark of the second period to make it 7-2.

// GAME NOTES
- Winthrop now leads the all-time series with UC, 2-1.
- Bell has eight goals through three games after scoring just 14 goals in nine games of the last two seasons due to injury.
- UC went a perfect 9-9 on clear attempts in the second half, while going 19-21 for the game. Winthrop was a perfect 21-21 on clears.

The Bearcats play at home for the first time in 2016 on Sunday, Feb. 28, when Robert Morris visits Gettler Stadium. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m.
