CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team dropped an 11-5 decision to Villanova on Saturday afternoon at the Sheakley Athletics Center. In spite of three points from Courtney Curtis, the first goal of the season from Skylar DeLemos and 12 saves by Meg Gulmi, the loss drops the Bearcats to 4-8 on the year and 0-2 in BIG EAST Conference play.

Maita's free position goal followed scores from Froccaro and Henderson to open a 3-0 lead for the visitors.

Curtis got the Bearcats on the scoreboard, but unfortunately it was the only offense Cincinnati could generate over the opening 15 minutes. Her goal was followed by another three straight from Villanova that opened up a 6-1 Wildcat lead.
13:09 2nd - CIN Skylar DeLemos
DeLemos provided the highlight reel goal of the game midway through the second half to cut the Cincinnati deficit to four, 8-4. She intercepted a pass from Villanova goalie Michaels right at the restraining line as the Wildcats looked to clear. DeLemos cleanly picked the pass, then drove straight to the cage and scored her first goal of the season.

After Cincinnati cut the score to 8-4, Villanova responded with another three-goal run to put the game away. Jillian Swikart was followed by Kelsey Denihan, before Henerson scored just 15 seconds later to make it 11-4. Curtis scored her second goal of the game with 2:42 to play, providing the final margin of 11-5.

- Cincinnati recorded 20 shots in the second half, to Villanova's 10 in the period.
- Draw controls were close to even, with the Wildcats holding a 10-8 advantage.
- Gulmi has now recorded double-digit saves in three games this season.
