CINCINNATI
- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team wrapped up the opening day of its quad meet with Kenyon, Oakland and Ohio State on Friday at the Keating Aquatic Center. After the first half of the meet, Ohio State leads both the men's and women's races while the Bearcats are second in both, followed by Oakland and Kenyon.

The quad meet will wrap up on Saturday, Jan. 14, with action beginning at 11 a.m.

The Bearcats recorded two individual wins on the day with senior Jacqueline Keire (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) winning the women's 100 freestyle and sophomore Zach Hostoffer (Highland Heights, Ohio/Gilmour Academy) taking first in the men's 100 breaststroke.

// COMMONS-DISALLE WEIGHS IN
"It was good to see the team race twice this week" said head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle. "I think we did a good job overall and are definitely being very competitive with these in-state schools and Oakland, but we have to come back stronger tomorrow. We need to make some changes and corrections and we need to respond tomorrow to finish up the meet."

// KEIRE'S STREAK ENDS
After winning 17 consecutive individual races to open the season, Keire lost her first event of the night to end her undefeated streak. The freestyler by trade raced the 100 butterfly, coming in second with a time of 55.56, just .14 behind Ohio State's Meg Bailey.

While her overall streak was snapped, Keire's win in the 100 freestyle means she has won all 18 freestyle races she has swam this season. Her time of 49.33 was good for a new pool record and an NCAA B cut.

// PODIUM SWEEP
The Bearcats had a strong showing in the men's 100 breaststroke, taking all three places on the podium. Hostoffer took home the win in a time of 56.00 while senior Ludovico Corsini (Milan, Italy/Giulio Casiraghi) was second in 56.57 and senior Tyler Roehr (Cottage Grove, Wis./Manona Grove) was third in 57.54.

// KEATING AQUATIC CENTER RECORDS FALL
Nine pool records came down on the first day of the quad meet. Keire's 100 freestyle time of 49.33 beat her previous best in the facility by a time by .31. Junior Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) technically recorded a pool record in the men's 500 freestyle with a time of 4:26.54 but was actually bested in the race by OSU's Brayden Seal who set the mark in 4:25.35. Additionally, Oakland broke the pool record in the men's 200 freestyle relay (1:21.91) while the Buckeyes set records in the women's 200 medley relay (1:42.46), women's 500 freestyle (4:48.65), women's 100 backstroke (56.65), women's 100 breaststroke (1:03.37), women's 400 IM (4:15.30) and women's 200 freestyle relay (1:32.72).
