CHRISTIANSBURG, Va.- The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving team kicked off its two-day meet vs. Virginia Tech and Rutgers on Friday night, picking up two first-place finishes in freestyle events. In total, the Bearcats placed 10 individuals on the podium in addition to two relay teams in the opening day of the meet.
After 18 events, the Cincinnati men trail Virginia Tech while the women sit behind both Virginia Tech and Rutgers. The women's teams all race together but scores are calculated as a double-dual meet.

Senior Jacqueline Keire (Burlington, Ontario/Nelson) earned her 20th solo win of the season when she touched first in the women's 100 freestyle in a time of 50.59.

Junior Chris Bready (Missouri City, Texas/Lawrence E. Elkins) brought home the first victory of the night for Cincinnati in the men's 500 freestyle. He won in 4:29.26, nearly four seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Freshman Rocky Laabs (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) rounded out an impressive night for the freestylers, earning a second-place finish in the women's 500 freestyle. She touched in a time of 4:56.18, her fastest time since her pool-record 4:48.37 on day one of the Bearcats Midseason Invitational on Nov. 18.
