BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
- The University of Cincinnati baseball team's comeback was cut short on Wednesday afternoon as the team fell 3-2 on the road to Indiana University at Bart Kaufman Field. After the Hoosiers took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bearcats began chipping away, scoring a run in the fifth and eighth innings, but ultimately ran out of chances to level the score.

// NOTABLES
- With the loss the Bearcats fall to 10-10 on the season while the Hoosiers improve to 10-8-1.
- UC starting pitcher A.J. Olasz (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin Area) was saddled with the loss and moves to 2-1 in 2017. Tim Herrin (2-2) earned the win for IU while Matt Lloyd picked up his first save.
- Sophomore catcher Mason DeAnna (Olmsted Falls, Ohio/St. Edward) recorded UC's first hit of the game in the fifth inning on a single that also scored the first run for the Bearcats.
- Junior first baseman Ryan Noda (Volo, Ill./Grant) recorded 15 putouts in the game, topping his own team high for 2017.
- The game was played less than 24 hours after the Bearcats topped No. 1 Louisville 6-3 on Tuesday night at Marge Schott Stadium.

Bottom of the Fourth
The Hoosiers connected on four straight hits, including an RBI-double by Luke Miller and a two-RBI single by Jake Matheny, to jump out to a 3-0 lead with just one out. The home team threatened more runs but Olasz got Logan Sowers to ground into a double play to end the inning.
Top of the Fifth
Junior Treg Haberkorn (Leo, Ind./Leo) drew at walk and stole second base to get within scoring position for DeAnna's RBI-single, the first hit of the day for the Bearcats.
Top of the Eighth
Noda doubled and moved to third on a single by junior Manny Rodriguez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Calvert Hall) before a sacrifice fly by junior Kyle Mottice (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Jackson) cut the Indiana lead to 3-2.

The Bearcats will split a three-game series with Northern Kentucky this weekend, playing two games at Marge Schott Stadium on March 24 and 25 and the series finale at NKU on March 26. Games will be played at 5 p.m. on Friday and 1 p.m. on Saturday at MSS and at noon on Sunday at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex.
