CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team scored 11 second-half goals, including a run of seven in a row, en route to a 17-12 victory over Winthrop on Friday afternoon at the Sheakley Athletics Center.

The Bearcats trailed 10-8 with 16:37 remaining in the game before employing a seven-goal run that included three goals and an assist by freshman Monica Borzillo (Devon, Pa./Conestoga) to take a commanding 15-10 lead into the five-minute mark. In total, Borzillo recorded four goals and a game-high three assists to pace the offense in the win.

- With the victory, Cincinnati improves to 4-5 on the season while Winthrop falls to 3-6.
- It was the final non-conference game of the year for the Bearcats who will resume BIG EAST Conference action on Sunday, March 26, at Villanova.
- Entering the game vs. Winthrop, Borzillo ranked sixth in the NCAA in assists per game (2.63), seventh in total assists (21), ninth in points per game (5.00) and 14th in total points (40). She concluded action on Friday with four goals and three assists to increase marks.

Cincinnati scored three goals in less than two minutes in the first half to go ahead 5-3. Enich recorded the first on an assist from Borzillo with 18:57 on the clock to begin the run. Stegmann got in on the action on an unassisted shot at the 17:34 mark while Enich closed out the rally with an unassisted goal 32 seconds later (17:02).

Borzillo's third assist of the game came on a pass to the streaking Amanda Fess (Fayetteville, N.Y./Christian Brothers) who buried her seventh goal of the season to get the Bearcats within 10-9. The tally started a seven-goal UC scoring run that spanned 12 minutes and 11 seconds.

Borzillo scored three goals during the UC run, including the eventual game-winner at the 9:07 mark to put Cincinnati ahead 13-10. The freshman collected what looked to be a Bearcats turnover and calmly slotted it across the face of the cage from the left side for the three-goal UC advantage. She scored again 27 second later after a pair of Winthrop fouls kept the momentum for UC to put the Bearcats ahead 14-10.
