TicketsCINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati sent a small group of competitors to Columbus Saturday as the Bearcats took part in the Jesse Owens Track Classic at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The highlights of the day came in the field as Macklin Tudor reset his school record in the shot put for the second time this month while Loretta Blaut remained undefeated in the high jump with her fifth victory of the outdoor season.
// TUDOR UPS HIS MARK
Tudor had another solid weekend as he not only remained undefeated in the discus, but bettered his school record in the shot put as well. In the final event of the day, Tudor placed third overall in the championship division of the shot put and raised his school record by 1.5" as he heaved the ball out to 18.81m (61-08.50) on his final attempt of the day, moving past his mark of 18.77m that he recorded two weeks prior. Tudor also competed in the championship division of the discus and won the event with a best of 60.65m (198-11). Tudor, who won the event by almost 10', has a better mark this season.
// BLAUT STAYS PERFECT
Blaut once again entered an outdoor high jump competition and, for the fifth time this outdoor season, walked away with a victory in the event as she won today's competition with a best of 1.82m (5-11.50). Her mark is the third week in a row she not only recorded a season-best clearance, but also cleared 1.80m or better. This week's clearance tied her personal best, which also is the fourth-best clearance in UC history.
// MORE PERSONAL BESTS
Three more personal bests were recorded on the day with two men and one woman collecting those marks. For the men, Michael Vitucci finished fifth overall in the 800m run as he raced to a time of 1:51.61, bettering his previous best by 0.31 seconds. In the field, freshman Aaron Eaton improved in the shot put for the third time this year as he hit a mark of 15.91m (52-02.25) to finish 11th in the shot put. His throw raised his personal best by 1' 1.75".
On the women's side, Kellsa Mbah raced to a time of 12.06 in the 100m dash to lower her personal best (12.17 previously) for the top finish in the event for the Bearcats. She also competed in the long jump and took second place, finishing with a season-best leap of 6.03m (19-09.25).
// OTHER RESULTS
The Bearcats posted six more Top 10 finishes on the day. On the men's side, Austin Edwards placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 7.04m (21-03.00). For the women, Tiona Lattimore was fifth in the 400m dash as she ran 55.71. Moving to the field events, Brooke Catherine was sixth in the pole vault after clearing 3.88m (12-08.75) while Nicole Breeden placed fourth in the discus at 44.05m (144-06). The final two Top 10 finishes also came in the throws as Ashley Williams placed seventh in the championship division of the shot put with a toss of 14.86m (48-09.00) and Alexis Gray was eighth in the championship division of the discus with a best of 42.86m (140-07).

The Bearcats have a pair of meets on the schedule next week. While most of the team will travel south to the Louisville Invitational, several Bearcats will venture to Philadelphia, Pa., to take part in the Penn Relays.
