CINCINNATI
 – University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Jamelle Elliott was the keynote speaker at the annual end-of-the-year breakfast for the Queen City (OH) chapter of the girls' STEAM Academy.

A furthering of the nationwide STEM initiative, Queen City (OH) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated Girls STEAM Academy (GSA) is designed to increase girls' interest in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) to create a pipeline for African Americans to participate and excel in STEAM careers in the future. GSA participants are enrolled in several high schools in the Greater Cincinnati area. GSA programming is developed to impact critical thinking, leadership, resource development, communication, conflict management and accountability.

At the event, Elliott delivered an awe-inspiring and powerful message that resonated with the nearly 30 GSA members, and their parents, in attendance. Building off of the STEAM acronym, she offered a call to action for the members in the areas of success, teamwork, energy, aptitude, and mindset. Following her presentation, Elliott received an extended standing ovation.

"Jamelle's transition of STEAM into success, teamwork, energy, aptitude, and mindset is extremely inspirational and will live with us," said former Queen City (OH) Chapter of The Links president Rose Thomas Pickrum. "We heard from many of the GSA members and parents about how they were inspired and will remember the call to action that was shared."
