WGCA Release
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced that three University of Cincinnati women's golfers were named All-American Scholars for the 2016-17 academic year.
The Bearcats trio of Ashley Cassidy (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), Valentina Herrera (Bogotá, Colombia), and Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wisc./Homestead) was recognized for the second-straight year. In total, Cassidy has earned the distinction each of her four years at UC while Herrera has been tabbed three times and Hitt twice. The Red & Black has had multiple honorees six-consecutive years.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) is 3.50. A total of 952 women's collegiate golfers were recognized this year with this prestigious honor.
"I am proud of the girls' efforts," said head coach Janet Carl. "Their abilities to balance golf and school is remarkable. They are truly committed to their academics as well as their performance on the golf course."
