CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men's golfers Davis Baxter (Nolensville, Tenn./Ravenwood High School) and Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) will participate in the 2017 U.S. Amateur after qualifying for the event Monday at Coldstream Country Club.
The duo claimed two of the three qualifying positions, tying for second place with identical 4-under par 67-71=138 scores. Justin Tereshko finished the event in first at 5-under 72-65=137. In all, 79 players competed in the Cincinnati event.
Nationally, 64 players are fully exempt into the championship and the remaining places in the 312-player field are currently being filled through qualifying at 100 sites across the country and in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico from July 3-25.
The 2017 U.S. Amateur takes place Aug. 14-20 at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
