TicketsCINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati volleyball head coach Molly Alvey and assistant coach Kevin Carroll head to Europe this week with the U.S. Women's Collegiate National Team Europe Tour (CNT-Europe).
Alvey will serve as the head coach of USA Volleyball's CNT-Europe team. The squad of collegians will tour Europe from July 6-16. The team will make stops in Venice, Italy, Maribor, Slovenia, and Pula, Croatia, and will participate in the Global Challenge tournament held in Croatia July 10-14. Alvey will also be assisted on the team by Carroll and Nicki Holmes of NC State University.
The Bearcats have become a regular part of the CNT rotations in the past two years. Junior rightside hitter Jordan Thompson (Edina, Minn./Edina) was part of the CNT that traveled to Thailand in May 2017. Thompson also earned a spot on the team in 2016 when UC associate head coach Phillip White served as an assistant coach.
The 2017 selections come on the heels of a historic season for the Bearcats volleyball team that saw it advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2011. Thompson was named the first unanimous American Athletic Conference Player of the Year in league history while Alvey was named The American Coach of the Year, the first of her career.
