CINCINNATI - For the second match in a row, the University of Cincinnati scored a shutout victory at home as the Bearcats tallied a 2-0 win over visiting Boston University on a steamy Sunday afternoon at Gettler Stadium. Seniors Jaycie Brown and Vanessa Gilles each found the back of the net to keep the Bearcats undefeated (2-0-0) while the visiting Terriers fell to 0-2-0 on the year.

// FIRST HALF
Similar to Friday night, the Bearcats continued to push the ball forward throughout the first half and led in the shots column once again. But, unlike the season opener, UC was able to find the back of the net in the opening 45' of play and did so twice for a 2-0 lead at the break. The Bearcats opened the scoring at 13:03 into the match as Brown collected the ball and moved in toward goal where she side-stepped the keeper, pushed forward and pushed the ball across the goal line. That goal marked the 17th time since the start of the 2013 season (when head coach Neil Stafford took over the program) that UC has scored a goal in the opening 14 minutes of play.

The lead was doubled just over 15 minutes later as Gilles tallied her first goal of the season with a nifty finish at the 28:21 mark. The ball was played toward the center of the box where Cassie Wheldon flicked the ball forward off her head toward Gilles as she moved in on goal. Though the ball was slightly ahead of her, Gilles slid and hooked the ball with her foot, sending into the lower corner of the goal for a 2-0 lead. With that goal, UC has now scored three times in their opening two matches with three different players adding their names to the scoring column.

// SECOND HALF
The second half saw very few changes to the score board at Gettler as BU held a 4-2 shot advantage in the stanza, but neither team was able to find the back of the net despite several strong chances. One of the better chances came from rookie Kiki Lowell who carried the ball forward from her defensive position near the midfield stripe and wove her way through the Terriers before launching a dipping ball toward the goal. The shot, however, just missed high to keep the score 2-0 in favor of the hosts.

Sensibaugh saved the one shot she faced in the second half and did so with flare as Chloee Sagmoe hit a shot from near the top of the box that forced Sensibaugh to dive to her right and snatch the ball out of the air to prevent BU from scoring. Overall the rookie made saves on both shots she faced in the match and earned her first career shutout and the second of the year for UC's keepers.

With the win, the 'Sunday Fun Day' streak continued for the Bearcats under Stafford as UC now holds an 18-0-2 record in its 20 home Sunday afternoon matches during his time in Cincinnati (since the start of the 2013 season). In those 20 matches, the Bearcats now hold a 46-10 scoring advantage after adding two more to the total this afternoon.
