American Athletic Conference Release
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Cincinnati men's soccer sophomore midfielder David Sanz has been named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, as announced Monday by the league office.
Sanz (Santander, Spain/IE La Marina) totaled two goals and one assist on the week as the Bearcats went 1-1. In a 4-2 setback at Wright State last Monday, the sophomore added his second goal of the season on a free kick to tie the Raiders early in the match. In a 2-1 home win against IUPUI on Friday, the Spaniard had a match-evening strike early in the second half. Minutes later, Sanz set up teammate Austin Smythe (Cincinnati, Ohio/Summit Country Day/Radford) for the game winner.
The midfielder is pacing the Red & Black offensive attack with three goals and two assists on the year. Entering this week, his goal total ranks 19th in the nation and second in the conference, while his total points mark (8) places 16th in the country and tops in the league.
Sanz was named to The American Weekly Honor Roll last week as well following his one goal, one assist efforts in the season-opening 3-1 home win over Gardner-Webb
