GREENVILLE, N.C. – University of Cincinnati women's golf junior Anika Hitt shot the opening two rounds of the ECU Pirate Collegiate Classic at Greenville Country Club at two-under-par on Monday to place in a tie for first overall on the individual leaderboard.
Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) shot an even-par 72 in the first round and followed with a career-best 70 in the second round to place in a tie with Towson's Alexis Hios atop the leaderboard.
As a team, the Bearcats turned in rounds of 303 in the first and a season-best 299 in the second to sit in sixth place out 17 teams.

Hitt birdied two of the first nine holes of the tournament but had three bogies on the back nine of the first round to finish at even-par. She bounced back to begin the second with birdies on the first two holes of the round. This strong showing set the tone for the rest of the 18 as she carded a career-low-round of 70 to catapult her into a tie for first. Senior Christina Gloor (Mattstetten, Switzerland/ESC La Neuveville) and junior Elizabeth Keeling (Knoxville, Tenn./Farragut) also turned in solid performances with scores of 152 and 156, respectively, including opening-round 75's.
