// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN

On the performance of redshirt freshman Andy Mayhew:

"I'm super excited for Andy. He's not the longest player on our team but his strength is consistency. The key he's learned over the last year is being a better manager of his game. He worked extremely hard during the summer, played a lot of competitive golf and showed up as a completely different golfer this fall."

On the Bearcats' overall play Monday:
"The thing that concerned me was our three-putts came at inopportune moments. The decisions were good but some of our execution wasn't at the level it needed to be. Not having played a competitive round of golf yet this season surfaced a bit for us today. The errors we made were because we weren't sharp competitively. We probably don't make those errors in two to three more weeks."

On the showing from David Baxter and Austin Squires
"There were some good things done by Davis Baxter and Austin Squires. Austin was a very good ball striker today. He just had a subpar showing on the greens. Davis played under par for most of both rounds. The key for him was driving the ball in play and he did that for most of today."
