As a unit, the Bearcats finished ninth in the competitive 12-team field at 2-over 287-281-286=854. The three-round total marks UC's lowest tournament score since registering a 14-under 850 while claiming individual and team honors at the Firestone Invitational last season.
The 2017 Bearcat Invitational featured six squads that qualified for the NCAA Tournament a year ago. No. 35 Kentucky claimed the team title at 32-under 278-269-273=820. No. 33 Arkansas finished second at 26-under 278-273-275. Fifth-ranked Illinois took fifth at 14-under 275-281-282=838.

// QUOTING HEAD COACH DOUG MARTIN
On the Bearcat Invitational:
"We were blessed with unbelievable weather here with 90 degree temperatures, very little wind. We really couldn't have had better scoring conditions. The teams had a great time. We had a great venue. I couldn't be happier with the tournament itself."
On Cincinnati's team performance:
"With the strength of this field, eighth or ninth place is where I thought we would settle in. We made too many mistakes to beat some of the teams in front of us. But those are things that we'll go back to the drawing board and figure out for the next time we go out.
"I think it hurt us not having played in an event leading into this. It's not an excuse. We made some errors that were very critical in holding rounds together. We struggled a little bit with that each of the three rounds. That's something we need to clean up."
On Andy Mayhew's finish in his first collegiate tournament:
"He was a player who was in our program last year who really listened to the message that we gave him. He's done a great job through his time, effort and work ethic that he has displayed during his redshirt season and over the summer. For him to come out and play the way as he did this week, what a great way to start your career."
