CINCINNATI – Finally in front of a home crowd, the University of Cincinnati volleyball team did not disappoint its fans Friday night as the team took down Tulsa 3-1 to improve to 3-0 in American Athletic Conference action. The Bearcats took the opening set 25-18. After dropping the second 25-18, UC came back strong with a 25-11 set three victory. The match was won with a 25-21 final set.

// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC, 25-18

• Kills by Jasmine Jones and Erica Kostelac got the set started as the Bearcats rushed out to a 6-1 advantage. The Golden Hurricane came within a point of the lead, 7-6, but a Carly Nolan kill made it 8-6. UC stayed consistently ahead, taking an 18-14 lead after two kills from Jones. Tulsa took a timeout with UC up 21-16, but it wouldn't matter as the Bearcats came out with a 25-18 set victory as Jade Tingelhoff connected on a kill for the final point of the set.
• Jones was perfect with four kills on four attempts in the opening set

Set 2: TULSA, 25-18
• The Golden Hurricane took the first point of the second set, but the Bearcats would keep it close. After a 3-3 tie and 5-5 tie, UC took the lead on a kill by Jones. However, after a 10-10 tie, Tulsa was able to score three straight, causing a Bearcats timeout. The Golden Hurricane scored the first two points out of the break, taking a five-point lead, the biggest of the night. A Nolan kill stopped the surge. Down 24-15, UC would go on a three-point run, but Tulsa would pull off the set victory with a kill.

Set 3: UC, 25-11
• UC came back strong in set three.  Tulsa took the first point, but Maya Muldrow came up with a kill and Nolan followed with one of her own to put UC up early on. The Bearcats lead grew to 9-4 on a kill by Erica Kostelac, leading to a timeout. Back-to-back kills by Muldrow from Tingelhoff kept the momentum on UC's side of the court. The Bearcats would end the set on a 4-0 run on four kills by three different players to take the match lead.

Set 4: UC, 25-21
The Bearcats went up by three early in set four as a kill by Nolan gave the home team a 4-0 run and 5-2 advantage. Tulsa was forced to call a timeout at 8-4 with UC coming out of the break still on top, grabbing the next point on another Nolan kill. The Golden Hurricane came back to get within one point of the lead, but Elly Ogle came up with a big kill to remain ahead by two. Later on, Muldrow came up with a big block to put UC up 20-17. The Golden Hurricane would get a few points back down the stretch, but consecutive kills by Nolan and Jones would finalize the match win.
