UC Volleyball travels east to face UConn and Temple this weekend. The Bearcats will matchup with the Huskies on Friday at 7 p.m. then against the Owls on Sunday at 1 p.m.

// WEEKEND RECAP
• Cincinnati battled through another tough weekend of conference play as it opened its home season with a 3-1 win over Tulsa on Friday night
• The Bearcats then lost a heartbreaking, dramatic contest against SMU on Sunday in five sets, with the fifth set ending at a score of 21-19
• On Friday, UC won the opening set 25-18 then dropped the next by the same tally
• The Bearcats bounced back to win set three 25-11 and set four 25-21 to take the match
Jasmine Jones had a career night with a personal-best 15 kills and an impressive .542 attack percentage
• Both Carly Nolan and Jade Tingelhoff recorded double-doubles. Nolan finished with 18 kills and 15 digs while Tingelhoff had 47 assists and 11 digs
Abby Williams led the team with 19 digs
• Sunday's match featured the top two teams from the 2016 AAC season and it did not disappoint
• SMU came out and took the first set 25-21 but UC would tie things up with a 26-24 victory in set two, with the help of a season-high 18 kills in the set
• The Mustangs got back in front by taking set three 25-20, but the match became tied at 2-2 when the Bearcats took the fourth set by a score of 25-21
• On her first kill of the fourth set, Nolan recorded the 1,000th kill of her career
• The final set had 16 ties and nine lead changes before SMU pulled away, 21-19, to take the match
• Nolan had 20 kills and 22 digs, becoming the first Bearcat since November 2012 to finish with a 20-20 performance
Jade Tingelhoff set a new career-high in assists with 61. That marked the first 60 or more assist game for a UC player since September 2012
Erica Kostelac set a new career high with 20 kills
• Jones matched her career-best from Friday with another 15 kill performance
Abby Williams led the team with 23 digs

• A few of the current Bearcats currently sit in the top ten in the UC record book for career stats
Jade Tingelhoff is eighth in all-time assists with 2,730 and needs 108 more to jump up a spot
• In the rally scoring era, Tingelhoff is fourth in career assists while Abby Williams is ninth
• Now over 1,000 kills with 1,005, Carly Nolan is tenth in the UC career ranks
• Williams also cracks the top ten in career digs in the rally scoring era, coming in at fifth all-time with a total of 1,059
 
// RECORD-BREAKING MATCH

• A lot of records were set during Sunday's match against SMU
• Nolan's 1,000th career dig made her the 20th Bearcat in history to achieve the feat
• Her 20-20 performance was the first since November 9, 2012
Jade Tingelhoff's 61 assists was a new personal best and made her the first Bearcat since September 2012 to record 60 or more
• 18 kills in the second match was a new team-high for the season
• 66 total assists by the team was also the most in a match so far this season
 
// CONFERENCE-ONLY STANDINGS AND STATISTICS
• At 3-1 in conference play, UC is one of the top teams in the standings right now as only SMU and Wichita State remain unbeaten at 4-0
• The Bearcats rank fourth in hitting percentage, fourth in assists, third in kills, third in blocks and second in digs when comparing conference-only stats among the twelve AAC teams
• Individually through the first four matches, Nolan is second in kills per set and 11th in digs per set
Jasmine Jones is third in hitting percentage
Erica Kostelac ranks seventh in kills per set
• Tingelhoff is third in assists per set
Abby Williams and Maya Eller both rank seventh in the conference in aces per set. Williams is also seventh in digs per set
Maya Muldrow ranks third in blocks per set
 
// KNOW THE FOE: UCONN
UConn is 9-7 overall and an even 2-2 in conference play. The Huskies traveled to Houston and Tulane last weekend and split. UConn lost 3-0 at Houston on Friday then beat Tulane 3-1 on Sunday. Last season, the Huskies finished at 7-13 overall and 16-15 in conference play, placing them at ninth in the AAC.
 
// SERIES HISTORY: BEARCATS vs. HUSKIES
Cincinnati is 12-6 all-time against UConn. The Bearcats took both meetings in 2016, 3-2 at home and then 3-0 on the road. The Huskies took both meetings the previous season, winning 3-2 in Storrs and then 3-2 in Cincinnati. The two teams first met during the 2005 season. UC won that match 3-1.
 
// KNOW THE FOE: TEMPLE
Temple is 7-5 this season and is tied with UC at 3-1 against conference opponents. Last weekend, the Owls swept on the road at Tulane and Houston, Temple took down Tulane 3-1 then went on to beat Houston in five sets. Last season the Owls finished in third place in the conference right behind the Bearcats with a conference record of 15-5. The team went 22-8 overall.
 
// SERIES HISTORY: BEARCATS vs. OWLS
Cincinnati and Temple have met a total of 14 times with the Owls coming out the winners in eight of those meetings. Last season the Bearcats dropped the match at home against Temple in straight sets then beat the Owls in five sets on the road. The Bearcats also split with the Owls in 2015 and lost both matchups in 2014. The two teams first met in 1982 when UC won 3-0.
 
// NOLAN ON THE ATTACK
At this point in the season, Carly Nolan finds herself ranked in several statistical categories both in the conference and nationally. On a conference level, she leads with 4.12 kills/set and leads in points with a 4.58/set average. Nationally, her 12.87 attacks/set ranks sixth (leads the American) while her kills per set total ranks her 41st in the NCAA.
 
// MORE CONFERENCE RANKS
Jade Tingelhoff ranks fifth in the league with 9.48 assists/set
Jasmine Jones is sixth in hitting percentage at .320 and ninth in blocks/set wtih 1.10
Maya Eller ranks 13th in aces with 0.28 per set
Maya Muldrow is tied for 12th in blocks (1.03/set) and Abby Williams is 15th in digs (3.00/set)

Speaking of the conference, the American Athletic Conference has announced the fall broadcast schedule for the American Digital Network with Bearcats volleyball set to be aired live October 26 when UC travels to Dallas to face SMU.

The Bearcats return home to St. Ursula Academy to take on Houston and Temple. Friday night will be the team's annual pink game and will being at 7 p.m. Sunday will feature a matchup with Tulane at 1 p.m.
