TicketsCINCINNATI - The American Athletic Conference has named University of Cincinnati women's soccer senior Taylor Pavlika to its weekly awards listing, placing the Bearcats defender on the Honor Roll. The award is the first of the year for Pavlika and 14th award overall for the program during the 2017 season.
Pavlika, who made her 56th career start in 57 matches, played 47 minutes of the Bearcats' 4-0 victory over visiting Morehead State Friday night and helped the team to its fifth shutout in a row and ninth overall while seeing the Bearcats improve to 10-1-2 on the year. Playing in the defense, Pavlika also came forward multiple times to send in free kicks on set pieces and took long throw ins that helped keep the offensive pressure on the Eagles all night.
Through eight weeks, the awards have piled up for the Bearcats as they have collected seven athlete of the week accolades to accompany seven more Honor Roll selections. Pavlika is now one of six different Bearcats that have earned placements on the Honor Roll, including Madison Less (twice), Julie Gavorski, Sophie Gorman, Karli Royer and Jill Vetere, who was named to the list last week.
Also this year, Kiki Lowell (twice) and Vanessa Gilles (three times) have been selected as the defensive player of the week while Gavorski and Jaycie Brown each have been named the offensive player of the week.
