TAMPA, Fla.
– University of Cincinnati men's soccer freshmen Darryn Commissiong and Sean Clarke each scored in a 5-2 loss Saturday night at USF.

With the loss, the Bearcats drop to 5-4-1 on the year and 0-2-0 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Bulls move to 5-3-1 overall, 2-0-0 in league action, and extend their home regular season match win streak to eight.

For the sixth-consecutive match, UC struck first when sophomore midfielder David Sanz (Santander, Spain/IE La Marina) sent a free kick near side from about 30 yards out to the back post where Commissiong (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Catholic) was there to head home the score during the 19th minute. USF answered before halftime with a goal in the 35th minute to knot the match at one at the break.

The Bulls pulled ahead quickly in the second period with a score on a penalty kick in the 47th minute following a UC foul in the box. The Red & Black responded in the 58th minute when, off of a restart, redshirt sophomore defender Elias Helbig (Denver, Colo./East/Creighton) quickly passed to Commissiong who sailed a cross into the box where freshman midfielder Clarke (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) tapped the ball into the lower left corner of the net to again tie the match.

With the Red & Black pushing numbers forward in order pull back ahead, the Bulls took advantage, scoring the eventual game winner in the 64th minute off of a settled ball in the box from a corner kick. USF provided additional cushion in the 79th and 86th minutes with scores

Commissiong's goal was his second in as many matches and his third on the year, while his helper in Clarke's score was his first assist of the year. Clarke added his third goal in his last four matches, while Sanz tallied his team-leading fifth assist. The midfielder's 14 total points coming into the match was tops in the AAC and 19th in the nation. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Pearce Skinner (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) had four saves on the night.
