Squires Finishes Tied for 20th at the Intercollegiate at the Grove

University of Cincinnati junior Austin Squires finished as the top Bearcats performer, tying for 20th place at 5-over par 75-69-77=221 Tuesday at the Intercollegiate at the Grove in College Grove, Tennessee.

University of Cincinnati junior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) finished as the top Bearcats performer, tying for 20th place at 5-over par 75-69-77=221 Tuesday at the Intercollegiate at the Grove (Par 72, 7,368 yards) in College Grove, Tennessee. 

On a challenging day for the Bearcats overall, Squires managed one birdie and 11 par scores as part of his 5-over 77 during Tuesday's final round. Branden Thornberry of Ole Miss held on to win individual medalist honors at 7-under 73-66-70=209. 

UC freshman Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian High School) carded the team's best final-round score at 4-over 76 to post the best tournament finish of his young career, tying for 31st place at 8-over 74-74-76=224. His two birdies on holes two and four were the lone birdies on the front nine by any Bearcat on the day. Osterburg was steady on the back nine, posting par scores on each of his final eight holes.   

As a team, the Bearcats slipped five places in the team standings Tuesday, finishing ninth at 40-over 304-285-315=904. Georgia Tech (12-under 297-276-279=852) overtook Ole Miss (4-under 287-285-288=860) to claim the team crown.
