CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team got off to a strong start on Sunday afternoon to get ahead 2-0 in the match en route to a 3-1 victory against Tulane. The Bearcats took set one 25-19 then set two 28-26. UC dropped the third set 25-17 but answered back in the fourth, winning the final set 25-20.

• Three Bearcats reached double-digits in kills while four hit double-digits in digs for another balanced performance
• Carly Nolan and Jade Tingelhoff both added on another double-double to their seasons
• Nolan finished with 14 kills and a team-high 19 digs while Tingelhoff had 42 assists and 14 digs
• Maya Muldrow matched Nolan with a team-high 14 kills and led with five blocks
• Abby Williams was second on the team with 16 digs
• Elly Ogle was just short of a double-double on the afternoon with nine kills and 12 digs
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC, 25-19
• The Bearcats scored the first three points of the set and didn't look back from there. They put together a 4-0 run later on that included kills from Maya Muldrow and Erica Kostelac. Tulane called a timeout with UC leading 11-5. The Green Wave scored the first point out of that break, but the Bearcats scored the following four to increase their lead to 15-6. Down the stretch, Jade Tingelhoff had a kill and Carly Nolan ended the set on a kill of her own.
Set 2: UC, 28-26
• UC got out to another 3-1 lead before Tulane tied the set at four. The Green Wave snuck ahead by two, 7-5, and got ahead by three, 10-7. Later on, kills by Muldrow and Nolan closed the gap. A kill by Elly Ogle made it a one-point set at 15-14. Kills by Nolan and Kostelac kept the Bearcats up by one as the set continued on, but the Green Wave had back-to-back kills to lead 21-19. After a UC timeout, Muldrow and Tingelhoff had kills to tie it back up at 21. The Bearcats went ahead when Muldrow and Nolan added a kill each to their totals, but the Green Wave tied the match late at 24 each. The set would come to an end when Kostelac had a kill followed by a block by Muldrow and Ogle.
Set 3: TULANE, 25-17
• For the third straight set, the Bearcats took a 3-1 lead at the onset. The Green Wave took a three-point lead, 10-7, after a back-and-forth beginning. Tulane grew its lead before an ace by Nolan brought the Bearcats back to within three. UC put together a 3-0 run to make it a 22-17 match after a kill by Muldrow, Green Wave attack error and a kill by Chrysanthi Stamatiou. However, Tulane would be able to take the final three points to win the set.
Set 4: UC, 25-20
• Once again, UC opened the set with a 3-1 advantage. The start of the set didn't favor either team for long until Tingelhoff had a kill to break a 7-7 tie. Muldrow and Tingelhoff then had a block to force a Tulane timeout. The Bearcats' lead grew to four after a Stamatiou ace and Nolan kill. A kill by Kostelac kept UC well ahead, putting the home team up 19-13. Tulane would work back to bring the lead to within a point, but a kill by Kostelac and Tulane service error ensured the set win. Muldrow sealed the victory with a kill from Tingelhoff.

UC hits the road next weekend for matches at Wichita State and Memphis. The Bearcats take on the nationally-ranked Shockers at 8 p.m. EST on Friday then play the Tigers at 2 p.m. EST on Sunday to close out the weekend.
