// LAST TIME OUT
Unable to complete the comeback from a 2-0 second half deficit. UC (5-6-1, 0-4-0 AAC) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Temple Owls on Saturday night at the Temple Sports Complex. After a one-week hiatus from competition, the Bearcats fell behind early in Philly when they were whistled for a foul in the box in the 8th minute which the Owls converted into a penalty kick score. After an Owls score to pull ahead 2-0 in the 67th minute, UC answered right back when junior defender Peyton Mowery (Troy, Ohio/Troy) played a ball into sophomore Daniel Oginni (Mississauga, Ontario/King's Christian Collegiate) who, while on the attack, drew a foul in the box. David Sanz (Santander, Spain/IE La Marina) then took the PK and scored for UC's first conversion of the season to reduce the Bearcats' deficit to 2-1 in the 68th minute. Despite opportunities late to tie the match, the Red & Black fell just short in full time, 2-1.

// SCOUTING FORT WAYNE
The Fort Wayne men's soccer team (3-7-4, 0-3-1) steps out of Summit League competition to play at Cincinnati on Wednesday. The Mastodons fell to Denver 3-1 on Saturday. Fort Wayne's leading scorer, Oscar Uyamadu, recorded Fort Wayne's goal on Saturday. Cam Sinclair assisted on the goal. On the year, Romain Lopez trails Uyamadu's team-best four goals with three, with Keelan Barker tallying two. Goalkeeper Brendan Stangel occupies between the pipes with 38 saves and a 70.4 percent save percentage including one shutout.

// FORT WAYNE SERIES
The Bearcats lead the all-time series, 3-0, outscoring the Mastadons, 10-1. UC shut out IPFW, 3-0, in Fort Wayne last season in its season opener. JJ Iroh and Austin Smythe scored in the win. In the lone series matchup between the two teams in Cincinnati, the Bearcats topped the 'Dons, 2-1, in 2015.

// SANZ HONORED
Sanz was picked for the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday. The sophomore answered a 2-0 second half Bearcats deficit at Temple on Saturday with a conversion on a penalty kick. It marked UC's first PK score of the season and was Sanz's team-leading sixth goal of the year. The native Spaniard totaled two shots on the night. The Red & Black was unable to complete the comeback in Philadelphia, falling 2-1. In addition to leading the team in goals, the sophomore also paces UC with five assists. His assist mark ranks 48th nationally and second in the league, while his total points (17) is 48th-best in the country and No. 5 in the AAC.
