The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program competes at home for the first time this season in a pair of dual meets. The team will welcome Cleveland State on Friday beginning with diving at 1:30 p.m. South Carolina will then visit on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Keating Aquatic Center.
The swimming portions of both meets will be streamed live online via Bearcats TV.
// ALUMNI WEEKEND
• All UC swimming and diving alumni are welcomed back this weekend for multiple events
• Friday will start with the meet versus Cleveland State. A C-Club homecoming social will be held that evening at 8 p.m. at Martino's on Vine. The event is open to all former UC student-athletes
• Saturday starts with the 10 a.m. meet
• The Nate Kramer Memorial Pentathlon will take place during breaks
• Alumni check-in to swim is at 11 a.m.
• The UC homecoming parade and football tailgate will kickoff at noon followed by the football game at 4 p.m.
// SEASON STARTS WITH A SWEEP
• The Bearcats opened the 2017-18 season with a dual meet at Indianapolis, winning both the men's and women's competitions
• The women won by a score of 215-85 and the men 188-11
• UC took the top three spots in the women's 1000 yard freestyle, men's 1000 yard freestyle, women's 200 backstroke, women's 200 yard IM, women's 3-meter diving, men's 200 yard freestyle, men's 200 yard butterfly, men's 100 yard freestyle, men's 200 yard IM and both the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving events
• Rocky Laabs and Sydney King both had two top finishes on the night
• Maddie Exton had a first and second place individual swims while helping the team to a first and third place relay finish
• Claire Schuermann won both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. She qualified for NCAA zones in her effort
• Zach Hostoffer won one race and finished second in another individual event. He also placed second in a relay
• Chris Bready had a first and two second place times
• Dominic Polling won a race and finished second in two others. He also was on a second-place relay team
• Mitch Godar also qualified for NCAA Zones with his win in the 1-meter dive
• Louis Hunt had the best 3-meter dive score on the night
// CONFERENCE HONORS
• UC started the season so strong that it took three of the four weekly honors handed out by the American Athletic Conference following the performances at Indianapolis
• Claire Schuermann was named Female Diver of the Week, Mitch Godar won Male Diver of the Week and Zach Hostoffer was awarded Male Swimmer of the Week honors

The Bearcats will have a break from outside competition until Saturday, November 4 when they host IUPUI. Diving will begin at 11 a.m. with swimming following at 1 p.m.
