CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati Department of Athletics and UCATS held its fourth annual endowment lunch Wednesday, October 18, to celebrate its student-athletes and the donors who provide financial support for individual scholarships. The event took place in the Nippert Stadium West Pavilion.
The group was addressed by Director of Athletics Mike Bohn and UC Foundation President Peter Landgren before men's basketball student-athlete Tre Scott joined Wil and Pat Leder to speak. Tre is the recipient of a scholarship that the Leder's started several years ago and each spoke about the relationship they have built over those years and how meaningful the scholarship has been to the both of them.
There are two ways to help support the $8 million needed to provide over 500 student-athletes with athletic scholarships. The first is through an annual donation to UCATS. For more information on UCATS, visit www.GoBEARCATS.com/ucats.

The second is through scholarship endowment. Athletic endowments allow UC to provide a permanent source of income to support student-athletes. Each year, a portion of the invested fund is paid out to the University to offset the cost of a student-athlete's scholarship. Any earnings in excess of the annual distribution are used to build the fund's market value.
Endowments may be established and named beginning at $50,000, which will help to ensure that future generations of Bearcats student-athletes have the opportunity to become a part of the Cincinnati family. An endowment fund is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding which can be tailored to the donor's wishes.
