CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati swimming and diving put on a dominating performance in its home opener Friday night, sweeping Cleveland State. The women won by a score of 201-91 while the men won 189-96.
// EVENT SWEEPS
• The Bearcats swept 13 events on the night, starting with taking the top three spots in women's 3-meter diving
• Tricia Roscoe took first with a score of 224.00. Kaley Pook came in second and Ellen Posch in third
• The men swept the 1-meter competition. Mitch Godar won with a score of 266.90. Louis Hunt came in second and Ike Karn posted a third place finish
• In the pool, Rocky Laabs finished first in the 1,000 yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 10:18:81. Caroline Sheehan was next and Laura Johnston after them
• The UC men also swept the 1,000 yard freestyle. Freshman Toby Van Dyke got to the wall first in 9:24:94. Ryan DePietro came in second. Justin Crew finished third
• The men put together another sweep in their next event, the 200 yard freestyle. Din Selmanovic won the race with a time of 1:41:62. Teammate Chris Bready was second and Jon Satre was third
• A few events later, the Bearcats took the top three finishes in the women's 100 yard breaststroke. Kennedy Herbert beat Bearcats Victoria Hunt and Carlie Perretta to the wall
• The men followed suit, as Zach Hostoffer, Macon Graves and Zach Baecker finished first, second and third respectively
• The event sweeps continued as Katie Qualls won the 200 yard butterfly, posting a time of 2:05:96, beating teammates Samantha Wheatley and Dee Sopapong
• Van Dyke won again in the 200 yard butterfly. He beat out Bready and Tyler Jones with a finish of 1:54:51
• In the 50 freestyle, a finish of 23:88 brought Maddie Exton to the wall first, followed by Bearcats Lindsey Niehaus and Michaela Wheeler
• The women swept their next event. Katherine Gob posted a time of 51:34 in the 100 yard freestyle. Niehaus finished second and Bailey Klafehn came in third
• Kennedy, Hunt and Grace Seibert went one-two-three in the 200 yard breaststroke
• The men's trio of Baecker, Graves and Nate Jonas also swept the 200 yard breaststroke

• Hunt won the 3-meter diving event
• Sara Wanasek came in first in the 200 yard freestyle
• Gob was first to the wall in the 100 yard backstroke

• George Epsly won the 100 yard butterfly
• Wheatley took first in the 400 yard IM
• Ryan DiPietro also won the 400 yard IM
