CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team bounced back and beat Memphis Sunday afternoon in straight sets to finish off the weekend. The Bearcats took set one 25-16, followed up with a 25-22 set win then took set three 27-25 for the 3-0 victory.

• UC improves to 9-13 on the season and 7-3 in conference play
• Memphis drops to 8-14 overall and 1-9 in the American
• The Bearcats had a season-high ten aces in the match, led by three from Elly Ogle and two each by Jade Tingelhoff, Carly Nolan and Abby Williams
• Nolan had a double-double with a team-high 14 kills with 16 digs
• Williams led the team with 18 digs on the day
• Maya Muldrow contributed with 11 kills and had an attack percentage of .417 in the match
• Tingelhoff finished with 36 assists while Jasmine Jones had five blocks
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: UC, 25-16
• Memphis took the first three points of the match but UC answered right back with a 4-0 run to get ahead. Kills by Erica Kostelac and Maya Muldrow aided the run along with an ace from Abby Williams. The set would go back-and-forth until another 4-0 run put the Bearcats up for good. That spurt started with an attack error and continued with a kill by Kostelac, another Tigers' error and an ace by Carly Nolan. The UC lead grew later on after four-straight Bearcat points to make the lead 20-11. The set ended on a kill by Elly Ogle off an assist from Jade Tingelhoff.
Set 2: UC, 25-22
• The Tigers took the first point in set two but the Bearcats took the next two thanks to a kill and ace by Ogle. UC took a two-point lead, 6-4, after a block by Jasmine Jones and Tingelhoff, but Memphis would tie the set at six. After another Bearcats lead, the set became tied again at 13 and later on was tied 20-20 on a block by Kostelac. UC broke the final tie and went up 23-21 when Muldrow had three-straight kills, all assisted by Tingelhoff. Kills by Kostelac and Nolan would put the set away.
Set 3: UC, 27-25
• Memphis would come out big in the final set, taking the first five points, but UC would work back to prevail. The Bearcats answered with a 4-0 run thanks to two Kostelac kills, a kill by Chrysanthi Stamatiou and an ace by Ogle. A kill by Nolan from Tingelhoff tied the set at six but the Tigers strung together five points to go up 11-6. Down 14-8 the Bearcats went on another big run, this one 5-0, to find themselves trailing by just one. After a Memphis timeout, UC gained an advantage, 19-16. The Tigers were reluctant to let the Bearcats get away as they tied the set at 25. But, back-to-back kills by Kostelac and Muldrow ended the set and the match.

UC travels to SMU for a match on Thursday, October 26. The Bearcats then take on Tulsa on the road on Saturday, October 28. UC returns home to St. Ursula Academy on Friday, November 3.

The University of Cincinnati department of athletics announced an initiative entitled Experience UC, geared toward inviting the community to campus to see firsthand the great things about and surrounding the university.
