LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – University of Cincinnati women's golf wrapped up play Sunday at the 40th Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club place with freshman Angela Lopez pacing the Bearcats with a three-over-par round of 75 to sit in a tie for 19th place out of nearly 80 golfers.
As a team, the Bearcats are in 12th place following a first round 310.

Lopez (Bogotá, Colombia) led the Red & Black attack with a 75 including a pair of birdies, one on each of the front and back nine holes. In total, the Bearcats had five birdies on the day with Amalia Shahzan (Kedah, Malaysia), Alyssa Burritt (Bellbrook, Ohio/Bellbrook), and Anika Hitt (Mequon, Wis./Homestead) holing one birdie each.

"The team played better than the score shows," said head coach Janet Carl, "but sometimes that is just not enough. The players have to learn to be comfortable in uncomfortable situations. They need to choose to believe in themselves as much as we as coaches do and they must decide it is okay to shoot low scores. When they decide to do these things, we will see the talent they have. Tomorrow, with the event being changed to a 36-hole day, they have a long time to catch fire should they choose to believe in themselves."

Due to inclement weather in the forecast, Monday's format has been changed to 36 holes. The Bearcats will be paired with Wyoming and Texas A&M Corpus Christi and will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. The final round will immediately follow the second round on Monday.
