HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Kyle Washington scored a game-high 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting for Red while Cane Broome dropped 20 points and 10 assists in split duty for both sides as Red scored a 91-70 victory in the annual Red-Black scrimmage inside BB&T Arena Saturday afternoon. The scrimmage afforded the team its first chance to play inside the program's home for the 2017-18 season while UC's on campus facility, Fifth Third Arena, undergoes renovations.

Washington, who led all scorers with 12 points through the first half of play, led the way for Red as six of the team's seven players each scored in double digits on the day. Two of his teammates, Jacob Evans and Eliel Nsoseme, posted double-doubles on the day with Evans scoring 11 and pulling down 10 boards while Nsoseme posted 10 and 10. Black had one player post a double-double as Nysier Brooks recorded 14 points and 11 rebounds. Broome totaled a double-double as well with 20 points and 10 assists as he scored 12 points and chipped in seven assists for Red after scoring eight points and adding three helpers for Team Black in the first half.
 
Freshman Keith Williams was the top scorer for Black as he tallied 20 points while adding four rebounds. He picked up 13 of those points in the second half as the speed of play increase and both teams running up and down the court throughout. 
Red shot 51.3 percent (39 of 76) from the field for the day, including 60.6 percent (20-33) in the second half when the pace increased. Red outscored the Black 22-10 in fast break situations.

Cincinnati plays the first of two exhibition games on Wednesday, Nov. 1, when the Bearcats take on Division II Bellarmine in Louisville's Freedom Hall beginning at 7 p.m. ET. The Bearcats then play host to Division II Embry-Riddle on Sunday, Nov. 5 at BB&T Arena. The game tips at 2 p.m. UC opens the regular season on Nov. 10 against Savannah State at noon at BB&T Arena.
