In their final road contest of the season, the Bearcats engaged in a tightly-contested first half. UC avoided falling behind early when it was whistled for a hand ball inside the penalty box in the 23rd minute, but freshman goalkeeper Noah Lawrence (Mitchelville, Md.) came up huge with a save on the ensuing penalty kick to keep the match scoreless. The Bearcats threatened late but went into halftime with the score knotted at zero.
Forced to play the second half a man down after a red card was issued to freshman Darryn Commissiong (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary Cathlolic) during the 48th minute, the Bearcats played through adversity throughout the period. Shorthanded UC was dealt a critical blow in the 74th minute when it was whistled for a foul in the box which the Golden Hurricane converted into a PK score. Facing a late deficit, the Red & Black was unable to muster up enough offense for the equalizer, resulting in 1-0 setback.
