University of Cincinnati freshman Nicolas Osterburg (Indianapolis, Ind./Perry Meridian High School) carded a 2-over par 74 Sunday to tie for 15th place after the first round of the Intercollegiate at the Grove (Par 72, 7,368 yards) hosted by Middle Tennessee.
Osterburg recorded par scores on 12 holes with a pair of birdies on the day. He is four strokes back of the co-leaders, Josh Seiple of Ole Miss and Tyler Johnson of Middle Tennessee, who each posted 2-under 70 scores.
UC junior Austin Squires (Union, Ky./Ryle High School) sits tied for 19th place, one stroke behind Osterburg at 3-over 75. Sophomore Jake Fox (Cincinnati, Ohio/Moeller High School) is tied for 29th place at 5-over 77.
As a team, the Bearcats are in seventh place in the 12-team event at 16-over 304. Ole Miss leads the event as the only squad carding a below par team score at Sunday at 1-under 287.

"We played really well for stretches today and then had a couple of holes where we has some mental errors. Overall though, I thought the kids hung in there under some difficult conditions. We played under a steady rain with hole locations that were very challenging."
On Osterburg's performance:
"Nicolas played one of his best collegiate rounds of golf today. He had a very solid round."
On the team's position moving forward:
"We've got a chance to make a move with 36 holes remaining. Most of the scores are bunched tightly together. Other than Ole Miss and Middle Tennessee, the other teams found it to be a very difficult day to play golf."
