The Turning Point: Cincinnati led for nearly the entire game, jumping out to a 5-0 lead before Western Carolina broke its scoring drought at the 17:05 mark of the first half and needed nearly 11 minutes (9:07) to reach double-digits as the Bearcats' full-court press forced the visitors into seven turnovers in the same amount of time.
Leaders: Cincinnati was led by four individuals that scored in double-figures, including Jarron Cumberland, who recorded a game-high 20 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Also posting double-digit scoring for the Bearcats were Cane Broome (15), Kyle Washington (14) and Keith Williams (10). Western Carolina was paced by Matt Halvorsen, who scored 15 points, while Deriece Parks chipped-in 10.

- The Bearcats moved to 4-0 all-time in the series with the Catamounts and improved to 12-1 all-time against SoCon schools
- Cincinnati has now won 28 games in a row at home, the second-longest active streak in the nation (Oregon, 43)
- With their 102 points scored tonight, combined with the 107 scored in the opening win over Savannah State, the Bearcats have combined to score 209 points, the third-most for a UC team in the Mick Cronin Era. The record stands at 215 points scored in back-to-back games last year against Texas Southern (12/13/16) and Fairleigh Dickinson (12/17/16) when the Bearcats tallied 96 and 119, respectively. The second-most came last year as well with 212 points as UC tallied 93 in an overtime victory against Marshall (12/22/16) the game after the FDU win.
- With 102 points scored tonight, the Bearcats have now hit triple digits for back-to-back games for the first time since 2011-12 season when Cincinnati defeated Radford (12/17/11) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (12/21/11) with identical 101-point totals. It also marks the fourth-most points scored in a game coaches by Mick Cronin, tying with a 102-60 win over Mississippi Valley State (11/13/12) and a 102-62 defeat of Chicago State (12/23/13).
- Cincinnati's bench scored 59 points, which was not only eight more than WCU scored as a team, but marked the second time in as many games this year that the Bearcats' bench has scored 43 or more off the bench. So far this year, the bench is averaging 51 points per contest.
- HALFTIME REPORT: The Bearcats' full-court press set the early tone for the game as the visiting Catamounts didn't reach double-figures in scoring until the 9:07 mark of the first half of play (UC lead, 21-10, at that point). Cincinnati finished the first half with a 46-29 lead and forced the visitors into as many turnovers as field goals made (10) in the opening stanza. Kyle Washington led all scorers with 12 points and a half-high five rebounds while eight of the 11 Bearcats that saw minutes scored at least three points as well. The Bearcats, who started Evans, Jenifer, Clark, Brooks and Cumberland, got 28 points from its bench in the first half, which was one point less than the Catamounts scored as a team.
- Mamoudou Diarra collected his first collegiate points as he slammed home a pass from Tre Scott at 3:59 in the opening half.
- Keith Williams (10) and Diarra (9) each recorded career-highs for points scored in the game
- Gary Clark finished the game with eight points and two rebounds. With this point total, Clark moved up one more spot on the program's scoring list to 48th all-time with 1,019. He moved past John Howard (1966-68), who finished his career with 1,013 points. Clark also moved up one position to No. 18 all-time in rebounds at UC with 832 in his career with Tom Thacker (1961-63) sitting at 831.
- Cincinnati saw 14 different players get minutes tonight with 11 of those Bearcats playing a minimum of 12 minutes. Each of those players that saw double-digit minutes scored at least two points with nine scoring at least six points as well.
