CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati swimming program continued to drop pool records and post NCAA B times in the second day of competition in the Bearcat Midseason Invitational, held at the Keating Aquatic Center.
// RECORDS AND NCAA TIMES
• Ryan DePietro set a new pool record and also a NCAA B time with a 3:54:25 mark in the prelims of the 400 IM
• Kennedy Herbert broke her own pool record in the 100 breaststroke, set last year in the same meet with a 1:02:42 prelim time. That is also a NCAA B time
• Dominic Polling posted his second NCAA B time of the meet with a 55:14 prelim time in the 100 breaststroke. He improved upon that time with a 54:77 in the finals
// WINNERS
• Samantha Wheatley took an early lead, fell behind, then came back to win the 400 IM with a time of 4:25:00
• Ryan DePietro followed up his impressive prelim performance in the 400 IM to win the final. He came into the wall the second time around in 3:55:16
• George Epsly took first in the 100 butterfly, coming in at a time of 49:55
• Rocky Laabs won the 200 free, finishing in 1:49:26
• The UC men also won the 200 freestyle as Justin Crew was first at 1:38:61
• Dominic Polling won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54:77
• Nick Sharp took first in the 100 backstroke. He reached the wall at 50:58
• The quartet of Maddie Exton, Sydney King, Sara Wanasek and Rocky Laabs won the women's 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:22:22
• The UC men finished the day with an exciting 800 yard freestyle relay. Din Selmanovic, Hans Kabelka, Chris Bready and George Epsly beat out their teammates in a close race, finishing in 6:39:96
// DAY TWO STANDINGS
• The Bearcat women remain in front of the four other teams competing with a total score of 721. San Jose State is in second with 508.5
• The UC men lead Lindsey Wilson 810-380
// DIVING AT MIZZOU INVITATIONAL
• The women competed in the 1-meter on Friday with Cincinnati's Claire Schuerman having the best performance for UC. She finished seventh with a score of 265.00 She scored 277.35 in the day's prelims
• On the men's side, Mitch Godar placed fourth in 3-meter. He posted a score of 305.05 and improved on that to post a 313.00 in the finals
• Isaac Karn also broke into the top ten with a ninth place finish. His final score was 293.45
// FINAL DAY
• Prelims for the final day of competition at the Bearcat Midseason Invitational will begin on Saturday at 10 a.m.
• Finals will begin an hour earlier at 5 p.m.
• It will be Signature Saturday with members of the team signing autographs after the meet
