Thomas Named AAC Freshman of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Cincinnati women's basketball freshman forward Iimar'i Thomas has been named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – University of Cincinnati women's basketball freshman forward Iimar'i Thomas has been named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
 
Thomas (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep) earned the distinction after averaging 15.3 points and 7.3 rebounds last week as the Bearcats went a perfect 3-0.
 
She totaled 18 points and five rebounds in an 85-52 win over Slippery Rock on Monday. The rookie followed with UC's first double-double of the season with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds in an 82-43 victory against Southeastern Louisiana on Wednesday. Thomas capped the week with 13 points and seven rebounds in a 73-62 triumph versus Miami (OH) on Saturday.
 
Entering just her third week of collegiate basketball, the 17-year-old is leading UC with 16.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per in only 23.0 minutes a contest. Her scoring average ranks ninth in The American while her 73.5 percent shooting from the field per game is tops in the conference.

In the fourth of a seven-game homestand, the Bearcats (3-1) will welcome the Pittsburgh Panthers (3-1) to Saint Ursula Academy for a 7 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday, Nov. 21. Admission to the game will be free as part of the Experience UC initiative.
