CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati lost a close match with ECU on Wednesday afternoon in the final home match of the regular season by a score of 3-2. After dropping the first two sets 25-22 and 2519, the Bearcats battled back to take the next two sets 25-15 and 25-20, respectively. In the fifth set, the Pirates were able to take the victory by a 15-11 score.

• UC is now 13-18 on the season and 11-8 in conference play
• ECU is 21-11 overall and 12-7 in the conference
• Carly Nolan and Jade Tingelhoff both posted double-doubles in the match. Nolan finished with a team-high 24 kills with 15 digs while Tingelhoff had a team-high 57 assists and 15 digs
• Abby Williams led in digs with 17
• Elly Ogle had a strong overall performance. She achieved nine kills, 15 digs and three blocks
• Erica Kostelac reached double-digits in kills with 18
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: ECU, 25-22
• The day started with a kill by Erica Kostelac. Down 3-2, UC scored three-straight to take a 5-3 lead. Those three points came on another kill by Kostelac and two kills from Carly Nolan. ECU came back to tie the game at six before taking the lead. Later in the set, another Nolan kill tied things up at 17 each. The set became tied again at 18 and 19 all before the Pirates broke away for good, scoring six of the final nine points.
Set 2: ECU, 25-19
• In the second set, the Bearcats went out ahead 5-4 on a Maya Muldrow kill. However, the Pirates scored four in a row at that point to take a lead they would not relinquish. UC never let ECU get too far ahead. Down 14-8, Jasmine Jones had a kill and Nolan and Kostelac added on each shortly after to make it a 15-11 set. With ECU working towards the set point, UC went on a 3-0 run to keep the set going. Nolan and Jones both had kills and an attack error extended the scoring spree. The Pirates earned the winning point on a kill.
Set 3: UC, 25-15
• The Bearcats came out strong in set three. ECU opened the set with a kill, but an Elly Ogle kill, Abby Williams ace, attack error and Nolan kill gave UC a 4-1 advantage. The Bearcats put together a big 6-0 run later on to put the lead at 14-7. It started with another Ogle kill and included two kills from Jones, all three off assists from Jade Tingelhoff. A Nolan ace grew the lead to eight points further along in the match. A block by Jones and Ogle set up set point for UC before an ECU attack error ended the set.
Set 4: UC, 25-20
• The fourth set was a close one, but the Bearcats prevailed. Down 3-1 early, the Bearcats came back with a 3-0 run to make it a 6-5 deficit, thanks in part to back-to-back Nolan kills. Down one, an Ogle kill tied the set at 11 and two ECU mistakes handed the lead over to UC. With the set tied once again at 14 all, kills by Nolan and Ogle and another error put the Bearcats up by three. UC would remain in control for the rest of the set, winning it with three-straight points, including one more kill each by Nolan and Ogle.
Set 5: ECU, 15-11
• UC went out ahead early in the final set but ultimately could not hang on. Maya Muldrow brought down a kill to give the Bearcats a 4-3 advantage and a kill by Jones shortly after grew the lead to two, 6-4. However, ECU threw up some big blocks to tie the set and take the lead. Kostelac tied it again at 7-7 with a kill from Tingelhoff, but the Pirates broke that tie with a 4-0 run. Down 13-8, the Bearcats strung together three points in a row, but two ECU kills ended the set and match in the visitor's favor.

The University of Cincinnati department of athletics announced an initiative entitled Experience UC, geared toward inviting the community to campus to see firsthand the great things about and surrounding the university. Experience UC includes complimentary admission for patrons attending women's basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, swimming and diving and track and field home events.
