GREENVILLE, N.C. – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team closed out the 2017 season Friday afternoon with a 3-0 loss after battling hard at ECU. The Bearcats dropped sets 25-15, 25-21 and 25-17.

• UC finishes the season with a 13-19 overall record and 11-9 record in conference play
• ECU improves to 22-11 overall and 13-7 in the conference
• Jasmine Jones led the team with ten kills and also in blocks with three
• Parker Shepherd led the team with 20 assists and recorded her first career block, a solo stuff in the third set
• Abby Williams led the team with 13 digs
• For the first time in her career, Erica Kostelac reached double-digits in digs with 11. She also recorded her first career ace
// SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: ECU, 25-15
• The Pirates scored the first two points of the day before the Bearcats answered with two of their own, the latter a block by Jasmine Jones and Jade Tingelhoff. ECU went on a run to take an early lead but a Jones kill ended the momentum. UC scored four-straight to make it a 9-7 set. Jones had a solo block, block with Elly Ogle and a kill to help close the deficit. Unfortunately, the Bearcats would get no closer to the lead in the set and a Pirates 5-0 run ended the opener in the home team's favor.
Set 2: ECU, 25-21
• ECU continued its run to take the first three points of the second set but an Ogle kill ended that. A kill by Jones tied the set at three and back-to-back kills by Chrysanthi Stamatiou gave the Bearcats a two-point lead. A 3-0 kept UC in good position as an Ogle kill and a block by Maya Muldrow and Ogle helped maintain the lead. Later on, the Pirates tied the game at 12 and then took a 13-12 advantage. A Jones kill and error by ECU put UC back where they wanted to be. However, the Bearcats could not hang on. A 4-0 run by the Pirates tied the game at 18 then put them ahead by three. A kill and ace gave ECU the set win.
Set 3: ECU, 25-17
• The Bearcats had three-straight kills, by Stamatiou, Muldrow and Ogle, to take a 4-3 lead in the third set. ECU worked back in to get in front, but UC stayed right in it. Kills by Jones and Ogle helped UC go up 13-12. ECU broke a 15-15 and took over the lead late. The Pirates went on to score eight of the matches final nine points to win.

The University of Cincinnati department of athletics announced an initiative entitled Experience UC, geared toward inviting the community to campus to see firsthand the great things about and surrounding the university. Experience UC includes complimentary admission for patrons attending women's basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, women's tennis, men's and women's soccer, swimming and diving and track and field home events.
