Cumberland Named to American’s Weekly Honor Roll

CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati guard Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington High School) was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.

The sophomore scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, matching a season high with four three-pointers in the Bearcats' 78-55 win at USF on Saturday. 

In his first season as a starter, Cumberland is averaging 10.9 points, third-most on the team, with 4.1 rebounds and 2.5 assists. He has scored in double figures in 11 games this season, including four of the last the five contests.

Since the start of league action, Cumberland ranks among the AAC leaders in defensive rebounds (tied for sixth with 4.8), three-pointers per game (tied for eighth at 2.0), three-point shooting percentage (tied for 13th at .364), rebounds (15th at 5.3) and scoring (tied for 21st at 11.8).

Cumberland was also named to the league's weekly honor roll on Nov. 20, 2017 and Jan. 2, 2018. 

A member of The American's All-Rookie Team last season, Cumberland also earned AAC Co-Sixth Man of the Year accolades while averaging 8.3 points in 19.1 minutes off the bench.
