University of Cincinnati swimming and diving returns home to the Keating Aquatic Center Friday, January 19. Diving will begin at 11 a.m. and swimming will start at 5 p.m. UC will host Xavier and Virginia Tech.

// LAST TIME OUT
• The Bearcats split a meet at Miami (OH) last Friday with the men winning 158-142 and the women dropping a close contest 159.5-140.5
Chris Bready, Zach Hostoffer, William Sigala, Zach Baecker, and Din Selmanovic all posted individual wins for the men
Lindsey Niehaus took two individual events for the women while Simone Palomo, Dee Sopapong and Katherine Gob also had victories
• In diving, Mitch Godar won the 1-meter

// SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
XAVIER

• The Muskateers are coming off success at a quad meet to open the spring portion of their season
• At IUPUI with Ball State and UIndy, Xavier's women went 3-0 while the men beat Ball State but fell to the two other schools
• Like UC, Xavier faced Cleveland State earlier this season, taking both the men's and women's competitions
VIRGINIA TECH
• The Hokies have been ranked in the top 25 this season as they started with win after win
• Virginia Tech had its first loss against North Carolina in early November. Both the men and women suffered a loss
• The Virginia Tech women also lost against Virginia in its most recent meet, while the men won
• After the meet versus Virginia, three Hokies won weekly ACC honors

// FOUR-TIME WINNER
On Tuesday, Mitch Godar was named the Male Diver of the Week by the American Athletic Conference
• It marked the fourth time this season that Godar had won the award
• He earned the recognition after a first and fourth place finish at the Miami meet

// PROMOTIONS
• The Bearcats will don special green swim caps on Friday as part of mental health awareness


// CONFERENCE RANKINGS
• UC's men currently sit in first place in the American Athletic Conference. The women rank third out of six teams
• Individually, many Bearcats hold some of the top times this season in the conference
Din Selmanovic holds the best time in the 200 free and teammate Justin Crew ranks third
• Selmanovic also has the best 500 free time while Chris Bready is close behind in second
• In the 1,000 free, Bready has the fastest finish this season while Selmanovic is second. Tyler Jones has the third-fastest time, as the Bearcats dominate the event
• The same trio (Bready, Selmanovic, Jones) own the top three times in the 1,650 free
• Dom Polling's best 100 breaststroke time ranks first in the conference. Zach Hostoffer is third in the event
Zach Baecker has the third-fastest time in the 200 breast
Ryan DePietro and George Epsly rank second and third, respectively, in the 200 fly
• Polling also claims the quickest finish in the 200 IM
• DePietro, Selmanovic and Nate Jonas own the three best times in the 400 IM so far this season
• The Bearcat men hold the second-fastest 200 free relay time and 800 free relay time
• In diving, Mitch Godar has posted the best score in both 1-meter and platform
• On the women's side, Lindsey Niehaus has the third-fastest 50 free time
Rocky Laabs ranks second in the 500 free
Sara Wanasek is third in the 1,000 free and second in the 1,650 free
Simone Palomo has the top time in the conference in the 200 fly
• The women rank second in the 400 free relay and 800 free relay

• The Bearcats head to Kentucky next Friday, January 26 before closing out the regular season at home on Saturday, January 27
