The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns to the courts for their first home match of the season against Wright State on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m.

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns to the courts for their first home match of the season against Wright State on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 5 p.m. The Bearcats will look to build on their strong showing at Butler as they take on the Raiders at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club in Cincinnati (free admission). Following the match against Wright State, the Bearcats will travel to Dayton to take on the Flyers on Sunday, Jan. 21, with the match beginning at 2 p.m. at Five Seasons Sports Club.

// LOOKING BACK
The Bearcats opened the spring season with a tough fought match against the Purdue Boilermakers (Jan. 13). Caroline Morton and Antonella Bramato notched their first wins of the spring season in singles with 4-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6) and 7-5, 6-4 victories, respectively. Following the match at Purdue, the Bearcats headed to Indianapolis, Ind. and swept the Butler Bulldogs, 7-0, for their first victory of the season. Morton and Bramato had strong showings as they both secured their second singles victories and contributed to the Bearcats first doubles point of the season. Bramato got the Bearcats on the board with Anna Philp as they defeated O'Bryne/Wilby by a score of 6-0. Morton and Ali Miller defeated B. Padgett/Sutton, 6-2, to clinch the double point for the Bearcats against the Bulldogs.

// SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Sophomore Caroline Morton will look to continue her strong showing so far this spring. She is 2-0 in singles, dropping only one set in those two matches. When asked about the upcoming matches, Morton said, "we are looking to continue in building on our wins, our team wins, our individual wins and our doubles wins."
 
The Bearcats have won 8 of 12 singles matches this spring and are 3-3 in doubles.

// SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
The Raiders opened the year with a trip to the IU Winter Invitational (Jan. 13-15). Before facing off with the Bearcats at 2 p.m., they will take on the Louisville Cardinals in Louisville, Ky. , at 10 a.m.
 
The match against the Cardinals will be the Raiders first dual match of the season.
 
The Raiders finished the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 16-14, going 4-5 in Horizon League conference play. In their last meeting, the Raiders defeated the Bearcats, 4-3, on February 11, 2017, at the South Regency Tennis Center.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS

The Flyers will head down I-75S on Saturday, Jan 20, waving hello as they pass Wright State who will be headed North to Cincinnati, to take on the Louisville Cardinals for their first dual match of the season. The match against the Cardinals is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

The Flyers finished the 2016-17 season with an overall record of 10-12, going 3-2 in Atlantic-10 Conference play. In their last meeting, the Flyers defeated the Bearcats, 5-2, on March 25, 2017, at the Western Tennis & Fitness Club.
